Saved People Serve- Part 5

This week we have looked at a dozen reasons why the Bible says we are to live our lives serving others.

1. I was created to serve
2. I am saved to serve
3. I’ve been called by God for service
4. I've been gifted to serve
5. I am commanded to serve others.
6. It proves that I belong to Christ
7. My church family needs my service
8. Serving others is the way to serve God
9. Because I owe everything to Christ 
10. Because service makes life meaningful
11. I will be held accountable for my service
12. Because i will be rewarded for eternity.

God did not put you on earth to live a self-centered life. He put you on earth to make a difference. He wants you to make a contribution with your life. He wants you to give something back. 

Whenever you use your talents, your abilities, your background, your experience, your time, your energy, you finances to help somebody else and you do it in God’s name; the Bible has a word for that. It’s called ‘ministry.’ Everybody is a minister. Not everybody is a pastor, but everybody is to serve using the abilities that they’ve got.

Now you remember how we talked about how life is preparation for eternity and God says, “This life is a dress rehearsal to get ready for the next life.” And one of the things you’re going to do in heaven is you’re going to serve God, and how do you do that here on earth? How do you serve God? Well, you can’t..The only way you can serve God is by serving other people. You can’t serve God directly. 

It is in serving his children that you serve God. Come be a part of a church family this Sunday looking for a way to serve…not be served.

Saved People Serve - Part 4

This week we are looking at a dozen reasons why the Bible says we are to live our lives serving others.

1. I was created to serve
2. I am saved to serve
3. I’ve been called by God for service
4. I've been gifted to serve
5. I am commanded to serve others.
6. It proves that I belong to Christ
7. My church family needs my service
8. Serving others is the way to serve God
9. Because I owe everything to Christ

10.  BECAUSE SERVICE MAKES LIFE MEANINGFUL.

Jesus said it like this, Mark 8:35 "If you try to keep your life for yourself, you're going to lose it but if you give up your life for my sake, and for the sake of the good news, you will find true life."  You're going to give your life away for something. Some people give their life away for a   or some kind of pleasure or out of life or to attain some level of status  The question is are you going to give your life for the right thing? For something that is  going to matter in eternity?   

11.  I WILL BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR MY SERVICE.

"Each of us will have to give a personal account to God." Romans 14:12 (NLT)

One day God is going to have you stand before Him and He's going to say, "What did you do with what I gave you

You need to make giving your life away in service to others the number one priority of your life knowing God is going to hold you accountable.

12.  BECAUSE I WILL BE REWARDED FOR ETERNITY.

One of the rewards you're going to get in heaven for your service on earth is that you will be trusted with greater responsibility.

My your life’s goal to hear these words from Jesus “"Well done, good and faithful servant!  You've been faithful with a few things; I will now put you in charge of many things.  Come and share your master's happiness."  Matthew. 25:23

Saved People Serve - Part 3

This week we are looking at a dozen reasons why the Bible says we are to live our lives serving others.

1. I was created to serve
2. I am saved to serve
3. I’ve been called by God for service
4. I've been gifted to serve
5. I am commanded to serve others.
6. It proves that I belong to Christ

7.  MY CHURCH FAMILY NEEDS MY SERVICE

It's needed and necessary.  1 Corinthians 12:27 "All of you together are the one body of Christ and each of you is a separate and necessary part of it."  Focus on "necessary".  You are necessary.  You're a part of the body of Christ, the family of God.  What happens in your life when one part of your body stops functioning?  You get sick and you may die if one part of your body doesn't function. The same holds true in the church,  body of Christ, we need each other to function as a serving part of this organism.

8.  SERVING OTHERS IS THE WAY TO SERVE GOD.

Colossians 3:23 "Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for me.  It's the Lord you're serving."  Jesus said, "Whatever you do for others, you're doing for Me. Even a cup of cold water given in my name is like being done to Me."  If I'm not serving others, I'm not serving God.  

9.  BECAUSE I OWE EVERYTHING TO CHRIST.

Romans 12:1 "Because of God's great mercy to us offer yourselves as a living sacrifice to God, dedicated to his service."  

Jesus Christ sacrificed His life for me.  And even if He never did anything else, I owe Him my life. I don't serve God out of duty.  I don't serve God out of fear.  I don't serve God out of some kind of guilt.  I serve God out of gratitude.  I owe Him my life.

Saved People Serve part 2

This week in these devotional blogs we will look at a dozen reasons why the Bible says we are to live our lives serving others.

1. I was created to serve
2. I am saved to serve
3. I’ve been called by God for service

4.  I'VE BEEN GIFTED TO SERVE  

1 Peter 4:10 (NCV) "Each of you have received a gift to use to serve others."  

Every Christian is given at least one spiritual gift with which to serve the Lord and build up the body of Christ (1 Cor. 12:7). But many believers neglect this special empowerment of the Spirit. Go on line and take a Spiritual Gift Assessment and find out how you have been uniquely gifted to serve.   

5.  I AM COMMANDED TO SERVE OTHERS.

That's good enough reason alone if that's the only one if God says do it.  Matthew 20:28 Jesus said, "Your attitude must be like my own, for I did not come to be served, but to serve." Circle "must".  It is not an option.  

Service for a Christian is not optional.  A non ministering Christian is a contradiction. A mature Christian is interested in service.  An immature Christian is interested in serve-us.  And there's a big difference there.  

6.  IT PROVES THAT I BELONG TO CHRIST

Romans 7:4 says, "You are part of the body of Christ and you belong to Him in order that we might be useful in the service of God."  We are the body of Christ whose work does not get done unless we the body do it.

Ministry, not attendance, is evidence that Christ is in you.  The Bible says that one of the purposes of pastors is to help you get ready for your ministry in life, that thing that God put you here on earth for.

Saved People Serve People

Jesus said, Mark 10:45  "For even I didn't come to be served but to serve others and to give my life as a ransom for many."  Jesus’ words “serve others" and "give my life" summarizes the Christian life. 

Unless I learn how to serve others and unless I learn how to give my time, my talent, my treasure,  I will never be like Jesus Christ.

This week in these devotional blogs we will look at a dozen reasons why the Bible says we are to live our lives serving others.

1. I was created to serve

God made me for that purpose.  I was designed for it.  The Bible says in Ephesians 2:10 "For we are God's workmanship, created in Jesus Christ to do good works which God prepared in advance for us to do."  

2. I am saved to serve

 "It is God who saved us and chose us for His holy work."  2 Timothy 1:19

What is a holy work?  The Bible word for it is called ministry.  Another word for that is service.  Anytime you see the word service in the Bible, it's the same word as ministry. Anytime you see the word ministry in the Bible, it's the same word for service.  

3. I’ve been called by God for service

I'm not only created for it, saved for it, but I've been called by God for service.   

1 Peter 4:10 "God has given each of you some special abilities. Be sure to use them to help each other."  

The Bible says every Christian is called to serve, every member of God's family is a minister.  Not everybody's a pastor but EVERY Christian is a minister.  

This week be thinking about how you can better serve and give to God.

We Can't Stay Here

Of the estimated 2,000,000 Israelites who made the exodus from slavery in Egypt, only TWO made it across the Jordan river into Canaan the promised land. As soon as the Israelites reached the river’s edge at Kadesh-Barnea, they sent twelve spies out to survey the land God had promised to give them. The land of Canaan was everything God said it would be; a land flowing with milk and honey.  

But there was a problem. The inhabitants were powerful, some of them giant-like, and the towns were well fortified with trained armies and weaponry. Ten of the twelve spies agreed it would be impossible to conquer the land. Only Joshua and Caleb believed God would honor His promise and give the land into their hands. But they were outvoted and the Israelites gave up before they even started. They stayed where they were at in Kadesh Barnea.

This Sunday at the Celebration we are starting a new message series called , “We Can’t Stay Here” “If we want to move on to promised land living, we can’t stay where we are at. We have to start doing things differently.  We have to stop talking ourselves out of the good God has for us–because we’re too busy, or afraid, or feel inadequate, or lazy or too complacent where we are.

What are you waiting for? God has equipped you with everything you need to enjoy the milk and honey life He has prepared for you.
