God’s word says to us that our sinfulness may promise freedom but we become a slave to whatever controls you.
Rick Warren a pastor in Southern California where the Christian 12 Step program Celebrate Recovery started gives us scriptural advise as to how we can B.R.E.A.K. F.R.E.E. of our destructive hurts, habits and hang ups.
B - Begin Today
"Never boast about tomorrow. You don't know what will happen between now and then." Prov. 27:1
R - Refuse To Blame Others
"Some people ruin themselves by their own stupid actions and then blame the Lord." Prov. 19:3
E - Examine My Life
"Let us examine our ways and test them, and return to the Lord." Lamentations 3:40
A - Ask Christ to Take Over My Life
Do not let any part of your body become an instrument of evil to serve sin. Instead, give yourselves completely to God, for you were dead, but now you have new life. So use your whole body as an instrument to do what is right for the glory of God. Romans 6:13
K - Keep Away From the Temptation
…”Don’t let yourself think about ways to indulge your evil desires. Romans 13:14
F - Focus on Something Better
"Fill your mind with things that are good and deserve praise; things that are true, noble, right, pure, lovely, and honorable." Philippians 4:8
R - Restore Broken Relationships
"As far as your responsibility goes, [Circle this] live at peace with everyone. Romans 12:18 "
E - Enlist a Support Group
"Two are better off than one, because together if one of them falls down, the other can help him up. But if someone is alone and falls there is no one to help him." Eccl. 4:9-10
E - Extend Myself to Others
"Christ helps us in all our troubles, so that we are able to help others in trouble, using the same help that we ourselves have received from God." 2 Cor. 1:4
