You Have Been Sent

You have been sent

One of the foundational values of our church is that we have received God’s good news in order to share that good news with others. It is what we call our mission. The English word mission comes from the Latin word for sending. Being a Christian includes being sent into the world as a witness to the life changing power of Jesus Christ. Jesus said to His Father in prayer, "As you sent me into the world, I have sent them into the world." John 17:18
The mission that Jesus had while on earth is now our mission since we are the Body of Christ. What he did in his physical body, we are to continue as his spiritual body - the church. What is that mission? Reaching out and sharing the gospel, the Good News of the salvation we find through the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.   Jesus said, "As the Father has sent me, I am sending you." John 20:21
There is a word for sharing the Good News. The word is "evangelism." The Greek word means "proclaim good news." God wants us to pass on to others the good news of what we know and have experienced.  A witness is somebody who tells what he has seen and experienced. Nobody can be a better witness of what God has done in your life than you, because you are the authority, the expert, on your life. And God’s mission for his church, God’s intent for you is to let others know about His Love, His Plan,His Purpose. Yesterday Pastor Brant and I shared the “An Empty Chair is a Serious Matter”. I want to encourage you to think about and then pray about a friend, neighbor, relative or co-worker that you can invite to church this coming Sunday.
Your pastor and partner in ministry,
Kyle
