Mandate Thursday

Last Supper
At his last supper Jesus said to his disciples,
"A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another."    John 13:34-35
Notice that Jesus said, “Your love,” not for me, not for God, but, “Your love for one another,” for other people in the family of God, is the proof that you are a disciple of Jesus Christ.  If you don’t love your brothers and sisters in Christ, other Christian believers, you are not following the command of Christ. This was the mandate (from the Latin mandatum or maundy as in Maundy Thursday) that Christ gave to his disciples. The mandate, the command was to love one another.
You see, the thing that proves to the world that we are Christ’s followers is not our buildings, it is not our music, it is not our sermons, nor our sacraments; the thing that proves to the world that we are Christ’s followers is our love for each other.
Invite a friend to Easter services this Sunday and share the love that you have been experiencing and have been mandated to share. Invite the people you know to experience the love of Jesus Christ and His church this Easter Sunday at 9 & 10:45am this Sunday at Beach Schmidt Auditorium.
Please use the invitation you were sent in the mail or were handed at church  or share on Face Book the e-invite EASTER at Beach-Schmidt.

Your pastor and partner in ministry,
