"This, then, is how you should pray”:
Throughout this week we are looking at the Lord’s Prayer and how Jesus taught us to use it as a model for how to connect with Him in a personal and powerful way.
“And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.”
Here is a course in LIFE 101. The way you think determines the way you feel. The way you feel determines the way you act. Temptation always begins with a thought. The battle always begins in your mind. Whatever gets your attention gets you. That is Satan’s strategy.
The key to overcoming temptation is to refocus your attention. When tempted with your eyes, just look at something else. When your thoughts have turned to lust or greed or gossip, think about something else, something good, something honorable. Don't try to fight temptation, just refocus. Whatever gets your attention, gets you. It's a psychological law. You move toward whatever you focus on.
To overcome temptation it is important to understand the following scripture,” No temptation has seized you except what is common to man. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it. 1 Corinthians 10:13
The devil made me do it is an unacceptable excuse.
God will always give you an alternative to turn to Him first for deliverance from what the evil one wants you to do.
