His Name is Not Harold

Pray
"This, then, is how you should pray: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.” Matthew 6:9
Throughout this week we are going to be looking at the Lord’s Prayer and how we are to use it as a model for how to seek God in prayer.
When Jesus teaches us to address God as Father he is letting us know that God is a person not a power. We like that because we can relate to a person.  We can get to know a person.  We can all have a relationship and get personal with a person. Jesus qualified the term by also saying "Our Father in heaven hallowed is His Name”.
Hallowed means holy.  Jesus is saying, “When you come to God in prayer like a Father, we still must recognize that He is our “Heavenly” Father who is holy, pure, set apart and sovereign”.  Through prayer we have the opportunity to personally worship and communicate with the ONE ALL POWERFUL CREATOR   of the universe! So even though we come to Him personally, we also come with a sense of reverence, awe and worship. What a privilege we have to seek His presence with a worshipful heart.
