Thank You YoCo Volunteers

What do you get when you mix 200+ middle & high school students and their sponsors, eager to learn what it means to be made in the image of God with dozens of Celebration Community Church volunteers who are practicing what their pastors teach about loving God and loving others through service? You get one outrageously successful Youth Conference. Thank you to all of the dedicated C³ volunteers, keynote speakers, worship team members,  the tech teams, donations team, prayer team, food, kitchen and hospitality teams, event hosts, the concession, coffee bar and merchandise teams. There were volunteers leading games, skits, drawing caricatures, decorating stages, setting up and tearing down, a barbeque crew, host homes and childcare providers. Special thanks to Youth Pastor Nick Eiden, CrossCurrent Administrator Alicia Hunter and former Youth Pastor Derek Mayfield for providing the leadership in organizing this event.Thanks also to the rest of the C³ staff for the hours upon hours of preparation and implementation of this our 11^th outstanding youth conference. Imagine yourself next June being a part of providing an environment where hundreds of youth will be impacted by God’s word and Spirit.

Imago Dei

Self image is how you see yourself. It affects your self esteem and confidence. It includes what you think you look like, how you see your personality, what kind of person you think you are, what you believe others think of you, how much you like yourself or think others like you. Poor self image may be the result of accumulated criticisms that you collected as a child which have led to damaging your own view of yourself. A destructive self image can lead to depression, addiction, violent behavior and suicide. BUT HEAR THIS: THIS IS NOT HOW GOD MADE US.
God created us with a divine image, likeness and vocation. Imago Dei
"God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them. Genesis 1:27
As Christians we need to be reminded of our divine identity.
While we are part of the animal kingdom, homosapiens, humans as a species, are unique, God created us in his image. Michelangelo in his famous painting on the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel (1508-12), artistically captures the moment when the Adam received the creative power of the divine image and likeness. This is the high point of creation. God creates in his image human beings whose special identity is the ability to have a personal relationship with him.

This weekend 200+ students sponsors will be celebrate the power and purpose of our amazing God  and be challenged to live up to the destiny our Creator imagined us to be. It’s not too late to register your teen for this inspiring conference.

Imagine

“ Imagine this or imagine that” . . ." What do you mean when you say those words? More importantly, what are you really doing when you imagine something? As created beings by an infinitely creative God, one of our greatest treasures, perhaps the dearest fingerprint of God upon us, is our ability to imagine. When we imagine, what is it we are doing? I don't pretend to fully understand the mystery of the human mind and heart, but I believe it is safe to say that when we imagine, our minds are working in concert with our hearts to create images of what we believe is a preferred future.  In my thinking, this is what I call the imagination. It is a bridge between the heart and mind and what God’s perfect will is.  It is our imagination that is our effort to re-integrate and reconnect our hearts and minds with that of God’s since they were fragmented by the Fall.   

I would like you to imagine over 200 middle and high school students pouring into Celebration Community Church this weekend. Imagine them passionately singing praise songs to God. Imagine them laughing out loud at the skits, videos and games. Imagine them meeting new friends and fellowshipping with old ones. Imagine them making deeper commitments to Christ after hearing powerful messages by our teaching pastors. What a wonderful weekend this will be if our CrossCurrent Youth Conference comes anywhere near to what you have just imagined.

If you know a teenager…and who doesn’t, encourage them to attend CrossCurrent’s 11^th Annual Youth Conference “Imagine” this Friday and Saturday. I can just imagine what a difference it will make in their lives. Contact alicia@celebratejesus.org for more information.
